Mount Mehliskopf
Mount Mehliskopf lies directly on the "Schwarzwald-hochstrasse" roadway at the Sand exit. The 1007-metre-high mountain is crowned by a tower where a magnificent 360° view can be had of the surrounding crests and valleys of the Black Forest. Worth recommending is a hiking tour from Mount Mehliskopf across the Badener Heights to the lake Herrenwieser See and on to Herrenwies.
For over 30 years the skiing facility at Mount Mehliskopf with its 800 and 400-metre-long lifts has been among the most beautiful and largest winter-sports complexes along the panoramic "Schwarzwaldhochstrasse" roadway. Should the winter wonderland leave something to be desired, "snow guns" make sure that conditions remain tip-top. A floodlight system makes downhill runs possible until 10 pm.
The Mehliskopf leisure-time and sports centre has been offering a super summer attraction for several years: a speedy downhill run full of curves on a bobsled course. As a result of the beam-and-column construction, neither bobsled nor pilot ever have contact with the ground. Pilot and pas-sengers are safely belted in, ready to join the fun on the non-derailable bobsled. Four steep forest curves, seven steep meadow curves and eight water crossings are passed at an average gradient on the 1000-metre-long downhill run.
In the restaurant pavilion, dining patrons are pampered with regional specialities from Baden.
