Our Neighbour - Baden-Baden, City of Spas

Both domestically and abroad, Baden-Baden is known first and foremost as a city of health resorts, yet it really is so much more. When Baden-Baden comes to mind, who doesn't think of the famous casino, the grand horseraces in Iffezheim, the "Festspielhaus" theatre, or the tiny lanes of the inner city offering exquisite windowshopping.

Rest and relaxation is found not only in the spas, hotels, clinics and institutes. Anyone who has ever taken a walk along the Lichtentaler Allee or up to "Paradise" can confirm this. The inner city invites people to stroll: villa districts with large gardens rise up the slopes; elegant Baden-Baden along the tiny Oos River with the "Allee"; the neo-baroque theatre; the classical "Kurhaus" and the "Trinkhalle" spa.

It was the Romans who discovered the hot springs as a relief for both warrior and steed. They built the first baths. In other words, Baden-Baden's tradition as a city of baths is already two thousand years old. The relief attributed to the thermal baths is based on the healing power of hot springs. In the historic "Friedrichsbad" and the modern "Caracalla-Therme", the water bubbles at different temperatures.
