Gertelbach Circle Hike (with Waterfalls)

The Gertelbach circular hiking path numbers among the loveliest circular routes in the Bühlertal Valley holiday region. Impressive cascades alternate with imposing cliff formations. En route, splendid views across the Bühlertal Valley and the foothill landscape far into the Rhine Valley and beyond await visitors time and again.

The path leads first of all from the hikers' parking area to the actual starting point: the Gertelbach Waterfalls. From here it closely follows the watercourse, sometimes to the left, sometimes to the right. The path is connected by numerous footbridges and crossings. Once the Gertelbach Hut has been reached, an impressive picture is offered by several cascades dropping nearly 70 metres. The circular path continues to follow the watercourse, turning at the end of the waterfalls via a serpentine path heading towards Wiedenfelsen. High above the waterfalls, a fantastic view is revealed across the Bühlertal Valley and the foothills, on a clear day far across the Rhine Valley and beyond to the Vosges Mountains in Alsace. There is a bus connection here going back to the starting point (263 Line).

The roundabout route continues over forest paths to the Herta Hut with a magnificent view. Just a few hundred metres further, the "Kohlbergwiese" forest inn is an inviting spot to rest before returning to the valley. A tiny paradise in the midst of the forest with a big heart for children. Far from traffic they can romp about to their heart's content on the meadow or one of the many playground facilities offered.
